Objectives:

  • Identify major ideas, people and events dealing with Westward Expansion and the growth of the Great West.
  • Analyze the Great West by creating a presentation about an idea, person or event from the era of Westward Expansion.
  • Identify the Great Plains, Homestead Act, Sand Creek Massacre, Sitting Bull, George Custer, assimilation and the Dawes Act.
  • Analyze the cause and effect of American attitudes toward Native Americans in the mid 19th century.
  • Identify the elements which led to the growth of farming and agriculture on the Great Plains.
  • Analyze the geographical aspects of the West to understand the technological requirements to settle the West.

Take new seats for seating chart/pick up Unit 3 Playlist

Activities:

  1. Review Unit 3 Playlist
  2. Review choice formatives due 1/15
    • To score a 2:   #1 Ch 13 VOC  and #2 Ch 13 VOC Quiz
    • To score a 3: Guided Reading:  Indigenous and Cowboys
    • To score a 4:  Great West Flipgrid Presentation
  3. Mr. W will call you up to do Mid Tri Report during class!!!!

Objectives:

  • Describe and analyze the historical trends of industrialization and urbanization and the related aspects of political, social and environmental history in US, Cananda and Latin America.
