Objectives:

  • Identify the original settlements in America.
  • Discuss the social implications of differences between settlements and eventual colonies.
  • Analyze the cause and effect relationships of economic and social differences between the colonies.
  • Develop and write questions that relate to their own desires for knowledge in history.
  • Create a detailed plan to find answers to the questions.
  • Choose artifacts and methods to show others the answers they found to their own questions.

  • Discuss the principles and ideals that influenced the thinking of the colonists.
  • Analyze the connection between the start of armed resistance and the decision to declare independence in July of 1776.
