  • Identify 13th, 14th and 15thamendments and their effect on the social improvement of blacks in the South.
  • Compare and contrast the impact of Emancipation Proclamation to Amendments to the Constitution and specific acts to improve social well being of southern blacks.
  • List the economic effects in the South after the Civil War and the answers to these issues.
  • Understand the implications of sharecropping and tenant farming as a result of social change in the South.

Objectives:

  • Examine a historical account and determine which meaning of history an author intends, the past itself or an account of that past.
  • Distinguish between fact or opinion of historical writing and determine if opinion is validated by supporting points.

Pick up Methods and Skills of History Text and turn to p. 14

Activities:

  1. Review Ideas of “the Past”
  2. Read pages 11-14
  3. Complete Set A Exercises 1-3/Turn in at end of class on PAPER!!!!
  4. Summative Test on these examples Monday
