Today is the “official” last day of school!  I enjoyed having each and every one of you in our classrooms this year.  Have a fun and safe summer, and I’ll see you all next year!

For incoming IB students there will be several assignments that can be turned in for extra credit on the first day of school ONLY starting June 16th!

You have homework over the break!  The Historical Investigation 1st drafts are due the day we get back.  Also, you need to read Ch. 13 in the American Pageant books as well as Ch. 6 in the Modern Latin America.  There is going to be a reading quiz the day we come back!

Objective: Analyze the differences between the Democrat-Republicans and Federalists.

1. Bell Ringer: What are the advantages and disadvantages of a two party political system?

2. Finish party issue slogans.

3. Each pair will come up and read their slogan, their partners will write down the slogans on a party platform sheet. These both will be turned in at the end of the class.

IB History of the Americas

Objective:

Analyze campaign materials from the 1828 Presidential election and interpret their effect on the American Political landscape.

Interpret ideas about federal vs. state control as argued through the Articles of Confederation up to and including the ratification of the US constitution.

Provide and in depth analysis of the effectiveness of both the Articles and Constitution on American Politics.

1. Bell Ringer: Tell students to copy the Campaign Material Chart

2. Discuss the Document Based Analysis Project 1828 Election and place students into groups.

3. Show students the 2007 campaign ads and fill out the campaign chart.

4. Finally, show students where they can find their specific campaign ads at the IB site.

2) In groups of 8, students must complete Faces of Ind chart for assigned person. Each group will write their answers on the board and each person must complete in their notes.

Objective:  Compare/Contrast the Brazilian Independence Movement and the Haitian Revolution using methods of historical inquiry.

Week 4

Sorry I missed posting yesterday, but the changes in class times due to Explore/Plan/Work Keys testing made things difficult.  Anyway, periods 2 and 9 will not be seen today again.  We will see each other on Monday when all the US History classes will begin a new unit on the Independence Movement of the US.  Period 7 will finish their colony maps today.

The IB History of the Americas classes will hand in their projects today, write or finish the unit essay test they were given yesterday and also be given the reading assignment which they will be quizzed on on Monday.

It has been a busy week…  but I look forward to getting in the groove on Monday! Everyone have a safe and wonderful weekend!

Identify the events which led to the Columbian Exchange.

Describe the Columbian Exchange and how it impacted or created a global economy.

 1)  Bell Ringer:  Answer the Human Interaction Question on p. 31 in text in notes.

2)  Discuss question as a whole group.

3)  Display picture of early slave capture, read Slave Narratives and go over questions as a whole group.

IB History of the Americas P. 3 and 6

Objective:  Explain and analyze the effect of the Boston Tea Party on the growing feeling toward armed resistance and rebellion in the colonies.

1)  Bell Ringer:  Pick up and and complete Evolution to Revolution Questions in groups of 3.

2)  Discuss questions and answers to Evolution to Revolution Questions.
