Week 4

Sorry I missed posting yesterday, but the changes in class times due to Explore/Plan/Work Keys testing made things difficult.  Anyway, periods 2 and 9 will not be seen today again.  We will see each other on Monday when all the US History classes will begin a new unit on the Independence Movement of the US.  Period 7 will finish their colony maps today.

The IB History of the Americas classes will hand in their projects today, write or finish the unit essay test they were given yesterday and also be given the reading assignment which they will be quizzed on on Monday.

It has been a busy week…  but I look forward to getting in the groove on Monday! Everyone have a safe and wonderful weekend!

Because of the schedule changes starting today and through the end of the week for testing, things will be different for P. 2 and 9 US History classes.

Today you will both take the Unit Test and afterwards work on the Colony Map Assignment which will be due next Monday, when our class meets again.

Today you will do the following

1) Bell Ringer: Answer the following question using p. 61 in your text; How many years passed between the years the colonies were founded and the Declaration of Independence?

2) Complete the Colony Map Assignment.

IB History of the Americas P. 3 and 6

You will both work on your South American Independence Movement Summaries which will be due on Friday.

Objective:  Describe the difference between the Spanish colony of St. Augustine and the English colony of Jamestown.

1)  Bell Ringer:  Copy the jamestown-vs-st-aug-notes.doc

2)  Read the jamestown-st-aug-historian-readings.doc in pairs and answer questions on colonial motivations.
3)  Create and answer chart focused on Economic, Political, Religious and Other Motivations for colonies.

History of Americas P. 3 and 6

Objective: Identify and analyze George Washington’s role of leadership in creating America and as President.

1) Bell Ringer: Students should pick up and complete questions for the-george-washington-papers.doc dealing with Shay’s Rebellion and Writing of Constitution.

2)  Students must then finish GW Papers Questions for other the Federal Union, Political Factions, Whiskey Rebellion and with Permanent Alliances.

3)  Distribute the george-washington-leadership-analysis-guidelines-and-rubric.doc which will be due on Friday.

Week 3

2) Distribute guided-reading-spanish-colonies.doc and complete by the end of the class.

History of Americas P. 3 and 6

Objective: Identify and analyze George Washington’s role of leadership in creating America and as President.

1) Bell Ringer: Students should complete whats-up-doc-wash-and-pres.doc

2) Go over questions as a whole group.

3)  Place students in groups from yesterday and distribute and complete questions for the-george-washington-papers.doc, then distribute the rest of the George Washington Papers for students to work on today.  Groups unable to finish will do so tomorrow.

1) Bell Ringer: What four countries colonized N. America and what was the name of their 1st colony?

2) Colony Comparison. Read colony-comparison-chart.doc and write comparisons and contrasts between England, France and Spain.

History of Americas P. 3 and 6

Objective: Identify and analyze George Washington’s role of leadership in creating America and as President.

1) Bell Ringer: Copy tp-vs-tj-t-chart.doc and compare/contrast Thomas Paine and Thomas Jefferson and their role of leadership.

2) Analyze and answer questions for the-george-washington-papers.doc

Identify the events which led to the Columbian Exchange.

Describe the Columbian Exchange and how it impacted or created a global economy.

 1)  Bell Ringer:  Answer the Human Interaction Question on p. 31 in text in notes.

2)  Discuss question as a whole group.

3)  Display picture of early slave capture, read Slave Narratives and go over questions as a whole group.

IB History of the Americas P. 3 and 6

Objective:  Explain and analyze the effect of the Boston Tea Party on the growing feeling toward armed resistance and rebellion in the colonies.

1)  Bell Ringer:  Pick up and and complete Evolution to Revolution Questions in groups of 3.

2)  Discuss questions and answers to Evolution to Revolution Questions.

3)  Distribute the Tory vs. Patriot Editorial Guidelines and Rubric.  Due at the start of class on Monday.

3)  Complete African Slave Narrative Questions.

Objective:  Explain and analyze the effect of the Boston Tea Party on the growing feeling toward armed resistance and rebellion in the colonies.

1)  Complete Committee of Coresp to Boston Tea Party Questions.

2)  Discuss questions and complete Evolution to Revolution Questions in groups of 3.

3)  Distribute the Tory vs. Patriot Editorial Guidelines and Rubric.  Due at the end of class tommorrow.

Objective:  Explain and analyze the effect of the Boston Tea Party on the growing feeling toward armed resistance and rebellion in the colonies.

1)  Bell Ringer:  Answer questions for What’s Up Doc? The Boston Tea Party?

2)  Read and go through What’s Up Doc?

3)  Guide students through Committe of Corespondance Response to the Boston Tea Party and Questions
